The Interregional League of Journalists is a public association founded in Nizhniy Novgorod in 2001 by 15 chief editors of various newspapers. The League founders have been published in 15 sub-divisions of Federation from Privolzhskiy Federal District. Today, the League represents papers of 25 Russian regions from various districts, with an overall circulation of 700,000.
The newspapers of the Interregional League of Journalists represent the following Russians towns: Nizhniy Novgorod, Kirov, Ufa, Samara, Saratov, Izhevsk, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Orenburg, Kazan, Yoshkar-Ola, Perm, Cheboksary, Kudimkar, Volgograd, Siktivkar, Chelyabinsk, Stavropol, Saransk, Rostov, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Kaluga.
Over a short period of time, the Interregional League of Journalists has held a number of important events including -The Festival of Mass Media, The Art of Journalism federal competition, and the Travel throughout Russia federal competition. The League also launched numerous interregional papers, participated in election campaigns, published exclusive interviews with Russian and overseas eminent public and political figures as well as provided consultations to the RF State Duma on certain amendments to acts regulating activities of the media.In 2003 the League started its effective collaboration with the Department of Tourism at the Ministry of Economical Development of the RF.
